From small things:

Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading?

Project I worked on this past week:   Autumn.

Book just finished:  Magnet Schools brochures

Currently reading:  Daddy’s Little Girl

Currently listening:  Narnia – The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

I’m slowly knitting the hat.  But I have a lot of knitting time coming up soon so I’m excited to get knitting more.  And I decided that I need to frog anything that I haven’t finished by now.  Especially if the item was for the Little Lady.  I’m sure it won’t fit by now.

I still haven’t finish reading the first book of Narnia.  I haven’t have a lot of time to just sit, knit and listen, so it is on the back burner.  In the mean time, I listed a bunch of my books on paperbackswap.com .  I decided before Christmas that I no longer need them, since I can easily borrow them from the library.  I do have a few books that remains on my bookshelf.  They either have the autographs to me or I especially like the books, such as my collection of Harry Potter series, Narnia series, Lord of the Rings series, along with a few books from my favorite authors.  When I listed the books, I realized that some of them I bought when I was collecting the author, but never read!  So I decided to pick one up to read it while someone haven’t requested it.  ”Daddy’s Little Girl” by Mary Higgins Clark is very captivating.  I had a hard time putting it down the first night I started reading.  But now that I’m back to work, it’s a little tough to read a whole chapter before my eyes get tired.  I’m hoping to finish it before Saturday though.

So, the Little Lady being 2 years and 2 months old, you would think that you still have time to think about schools, right?  WRONG.  Tonight, we went to the magnet schools fair, which you can see from the picture the massive amount of information we had to sort through tonight as open houses are coming real soon!  One of them is this Saturday!  And the application deadline is Feb. 17!!!!!

HOLY CRAP!

Sometimes, I wish my Little Lady stays little.

The Little Lady officially turned 2 today.

Happy Birthday Babe!

She’s such a cutie pie!  Can’t believe she’s two already!

————————————————-

On Monday, daycare had a little Halloween parade around the building.  Originally, she was going to be Jackie O, but somehow she got paint all over the sweater and hat I made, so instead, she was a little tiger.

Cutest tiger.  Ever.

I’m always wondered what you would do for a two year old for his/her birthday. They are not quite old enough to pick their friends to come over, but then they are not as little anymore to just have a party for the mom, you know what I mean?

Well, in the end, I pick the “having a party for mom” side, and invited a few of my friends to come over – knitting/stitching required, but gifts are optional. In the end, due to the super early snowstorm we got and the virus going around, only WifeMomKnitter and Crystal were able to come. Of course, Grandma too! We have so much food left I think I’ll be eating them for the rest of the week!

Look at the pumpkin cupcakes in the back (regular and mini size)! With the maple buttercream!

Little Lady’s new friend!

mmm… food!

Thanks ladies for making the Little Lady’s day.

Do you feel the crisp in the air?  The temperature has dipped down below 50s in some nights!

To celebrate fall, we went to pick apples and pears at High Hill Orchard.  I’ve done some research on organic orchard, and although High Hill isn’t certified, but they practice as one.

We climbed hills to find apples and pears!

What are you looking at, Mama?

Apple!!!!

More apples!

A little help from daddy up top.

Woooooo... tractor!

Just a note – David was cut out of frame so he really was next to her.  No baby was left riding the tractor alone.

We also got apple cider and pear cider from the farm stand, along with Cinderella pumpkin, which we forgot to take picture of.  We had a ton of fun and probably will be back before the season ended!

And did you notice that cute sweater she was sporting?  It’s the Baby Hepburn Crop Coat by Crystal Guistinello.  It was a test knit – way overdue.  But it is done, and super cute on babysquared!  Now, if I can only get her to wear the other sweater so I can take some pictures…

Summer had flew by!  During the summer, I completed two sweaters, and currently working on an adult vest.  I also hosted a mini skein swap.  My folks had come to visit and now they are gone.  And!  School has started.  Which means no more knitting with the bitches on Thursday night.

I promise something to come soon.  There are some major decisions that I need to make for my career life, that can really affect my personal life.  When the decisions are made, I’ll be sharing them, and hopefully with some cute baby pic with the pretty sweaters too!

Today is Day 10 of Tour de Fleece, and it is also a rest day.  So instead of spinning, I spent a little time on this little cutie:

It is a test knit that is due 7/20.  I’m making it for the little lady in size 2T.  I’m still debating on the collar color.  Luckily I have a few days of knitting before I have to decide.  Oh, and I knitted those buttons in so I don’t have to sew them on!  Aren’t I lazy clever?

And of course, how can we speak of the Little Lady with no photos of her? :)

So no spinning for me on 4th of July.  We had a beach party instead!  Plus we went to a pool party on the 3rd, and a birthday party on the 2nd!  We need time to recoup!  But I won’t leave you with no photos!   Look!  Cutie Patootie!  (to distract you from noticing that I have no spinning photos!)

Don’t have a lot of time to post lately, since I started grad school!  I know!  I’m crazy…  But it’s gotta be done.

So until I have more time to properly show some of my knitting and the Little Lady, I will show you this:

I made cinnamon muffins with cinnamon chips using the Amish Friendship Bread starter.  They smell amazing!  I think I had the heat too high in the beginning so the dough rise too high too fast, now I have sink holes in the middle, but I’m sure that won’t affect taste!

Since I’m uploading, I might as well show you this:

CostumeChick, backstageknits, CostumeChick’s intern, WifeMomKnitter and I went to the CT Sheep and Wool festival this past Saturday.  I’ve always liked this festival because it is the first one of the series near me and it always signifies that spring is coming!

While we were posing, the two kids with their baby goats ran toward us.  The lady who was taking our photos decided that they need to be in the pictures too, so there they are.  The goats are super cute!

I think that will have to be it for today.  I’ll have to definitely do a post on a Saturday or something ti catch you all up!

Whatever happened to your __________?

Write about the fate of a past knitting project. Whether it be something that you crocheted or knitted for yourself or to give to another person. An item that lives with you or something which you sent off to charity.

This is Jezabel.  I don’t know why I don’t have a FO photo of this because it is finished.  I was totally into this sweater.  I mean, just look at the pretty lady with this gorgeous sweater:

Well, my sweater turned out almost like it, except it didn’t.  I followed the pattern, against my better judgement, and I think the underarm area were so big that i can put my head through it!  I mean, seriously, I even ran out of yarn and cried for help on Ravelry!  A nice Raveler sent me two balls for free so I can finish.  And now it is in time out, indefinitely.  I should really rip it out to modify it so I can actually wear it.  Or maybe rip it all out and make something else?  What do you think?

How do you keep your yarn wrangling organised? It seems like an easy to answer question at first, but in fact organisation exists on many levels. Maybe you are truly not organised at all, in which case I am personally daring you to try and photograph your stash in whatever locations you can find the individual skeins. However, if you are organised, blog about an aspect of that organisation process, whether that be a particularly neat and tidy knitting bag, a decorative display of your crochet hooks, your organised stash or your project and stash pages on Ravelry.

I keep my yarn organized in the IKEA bookshelves.  One grid has lace, two grids have sock yarn, three grids with Farmhouse yarn, one grid with farms and festival only yarn, and the rest were organized by my madness…

This bookcase has mostly what I called the “low rider”.  It has antique shop/thrift store finds and mostly yarn from craft store.  I also recently dedicated one grid to roving.  I’m hoping that I can maintain it with just one grid!  And as you can see, I have fabrics in the totes in the foreground and the bookcase next to this big one.  Way too many, of course!

I think I have most of my yarn photographed and cataloged on Ravelry, but I’m sure there are a few stragglers in there.  I do have some reorganization ideas on my craft room overall, but I’m pretty happy where the yarn is.  I am, however, not too happy with where my notions are.  They are all currently just in the plastic drawers right now, you can almost see it in the first photo (the one little one on top right corner).  I feel that I should be able to do better, but I don’t really have any ideas.  I also don’t have a lot of needles, so I guess that isn’t really a concern, but I’m not really good at keeping all the needle tips set into the bag, and I feel that even if I do, I don’t really have a good way to identify them at the moment, since they don’t really have a lable on them.  So that would totally be something I need to work on.  I would love to know how you organize your needles!
