NOTE:  If you like climbing plants and any vines, this post is NOT for you.  You should terminate this page immediately.   Oh, and for those only like PG-13 anything, there is swearing involved, so cover your eyes as well.

So all the vines loving peeps are gone?  Good.

Let me just get this out of my system:

I FUCKING HATE VINES!!!!!

Phew…  that felt good.

The lady who used to own our house must LOVE vines.  We had all sorts of climbing plants that gets into everything – other plants, windows, doors, roof, drain systems… you name it, they are there.  I understand why she planted them – it provided cover for the ugly meters in the front of the house, and to balance the house (it’s a colonial, everything is very symmertical) she planted another one on the other side.  Another one was added by where the 6 ft wire-fence meet the house becuase it was just bare and weird without it.  I give her A+ for intention, but a BIG FAT F for planting strategy.  All the locations of the vines are so close to the house that the roots dig into the fundation of the house!  WHO DOES THAT?   And they climb on the walls and get into the sidings, windows and everything they can get in.  Again, WHO DOES THAT?

So this is my philosophy – vines = weeds.  I see them, I cut them off.  I will do anything to kill them, however, they never die.  Any suggestions out there?  They also get into my peonies, hastas, hydrangeas and few other plants.  They take over and prohibit the other plants to grow.  Can you now see how serious this problem is?  So any suggestions are welcome!

Oh, and see what I found in the backyard:

Can anyone tell me what this is?  It smells great!  My initial thought was a lilac tree, but then I’m not sure.

Here is another tree:

snc00089

I think they are the same, but then again, I’m not sure.  This one is next to the peach tree.  Oh yeah, according all the peach pits on the ground, I think we have a peach tree.  I’ll have to investigate further on that.

So anyone tell me what those are?

One more thing – can anyone suggest when is a good time to split hastas?  My hastas up front gets partial sun and they had at least quadrupled since we moved here and I think it’s time to split them.  But I’m not sure when it’s a good time to do that.  I’ll be doing some internet search, but any experience garderner advices are welcome!

Ahhh…  It feels so nice that the fiber festival is now officially ON.  I have never been to this particular festival even though it is the closest one to me.  But I was free, plus I need to front load my fiber festivals this year since I wouldn’t be able to go to Rhinebeck (NY Sheep and Wool) and Stitches East (at Hartford this year!!!!) due to them being so close to my due date.  (For those non-fiber obssessed folks, NYS&W is a fairly large festival in Octorber and Stitches East is like a GIANT yarn market in the east coast, and every year it is in a different location.  This year, it is in Hartford, CT).

Archiknist and I make our way up to CTS&W around 12:30.  It is a fairly small festival compare to Rhinebeck or MDS&W (for the non-fiber obessesed folks, those two are probably couple of largest festivals in the east coast if not the country).  It has total of 3 barns and a few dozen vendors.  Here are the few items I took home with:

snc00085

A skein of Angora and Alpaca blend in cream (natural, no dye) from Cobblerock Ridge Farm.  They had some luscious roving that I so wanted to take home with, but I don’t have a wheel yet so there is no reason for me to do that.

The two bar of soaps from Sleepy Moon Soaps at Baily Farm were a great find before we left the festival.  I got two buttermilk soap, one is Clementine Lavendar, which is a great citrus based smell soap, and the other is Honeysuckle blossom, which is totally floral, but clean.  They smell so good I consider taking a shower immediately after I got home!

The last thing I came home with is the WPI gauge.  It is locally designed and beautifully crafted.  I bought a generic one when I visited New Hampshire, but unfortunately, Vanilla chewed it up pretty good and I think she also ate a chunk of it since it is missing.  Let me tell you, the things that girl gets into…  I don’t know how she is not sick!  Anyways, I didn’t even get a chance to use my WPI gauge!  So now I bought this one, and it is nicely tucked away in the knitting drawer.

We also saw a sheep ran away from the fence!  It jumped over and ran so fast I didn’t have any time to react to take a photo!  That was pretty cool and fun to see, for me anyways, I’m sure the Border Collie that lost the sheep didn’t find it amusing at all.  And that all happened while we were observing some bobbin lace in action!

That looks so complicated but the lady make it look as easy as drinking a glass of water!!!

We also run into a bunch of SnB girls:  Sunflowerfairy, Gale, editorgrrl, nutmegknitter and her friend theaterknitter, Cathy, missalicefaye, Whining Procrastinator and her sweetheart, and few others.

It was so great to see some of the people I haven’t seen since I don’t go to Wednesday SnB anymore.  And it was also so great to see that Sunflowerfairy is feeling better and Whining Procrastinator is out and about.

So that was my adventure for today.  Oh!  And it was HOT up there!  91 degrees to be exact – at least that’s what my car said.  And it felt liked it too!

Now, that’s one festival done, lots of them to go!  MDS&W next week!!! :)

snc00032See!  The weird thing is, it just all of the sudden showed up!!

Well, alright.  It didn’t JUST show up.  But I JUST noticed it big time.

We had the first trimester genetic screening last Thursday and everything came back NORMAL! :)  We are super excited, of course.  Oh, and we came home with some cool sonograms again.

12 weeks 4 days!

12 weeks 4 days!

Can you see the baby's face?

Can you see the baby's face?

Isn’t that cool?

Well, we still haven’t figure out if we want to find out the gender yet.  I just can’t make up my mind!  But that’s okay, we got a few more weeks to decide!

Well, we are off to the Red Sox vs. Orioles game at Fenway!  Look for us on the Green Monster!!!!!

At work.  Or maybe it’s the toilet seats.  Either way, I’m blaming this whole thing to Sikorsky.

That was on Feb 23rd 7pm.  And see that horizontal bar?  That’s really a plus sign, just a little faded under the light.  Yeah…  The sign didn’t even wait for one second to show up!

In a disbelief, I walked out the bathroom with the box and the stick into the living room, David was a little concerned and asked, “What’s wrong?  You ok?”  ”Well, I think the box is lying, but it says I’m pregnant!”  ”What?” “See!”

It took me a whole day to digest the info, and on Wednesday morning, I did another test, since the box said it’s best to do it in the morning.

snc00011

Yup.  That’s two sticks laughing at me.

On March 2nd, I had my first appointment.  The midwife confirmed that I was pregnant, and that it wasn’t a joke.  And then gave me a bunch of paperwork so I can get some blood work done and scheduled me an ultrasound for the following week.

I have to say, I was dreading for the blood work.  I always end up to be the pin cushion that no one can find where the veins are.  But I was pleasantly surprised by this trip.  The lady I had was a pro.  SO good that I didn’t feel anything and I had like 10 tubes taken outta me!  (I have extra test done because I’m Chinese and David is French Canadian…  Lots of possibility – but all came back negative!!!!)  And best of all – no bruises!!!!!!

On March 12th, I had my ultrasound.  Well, it was an interesting experience to say the least.  Lets just say that it’s NOT an external ultrasound.  Yeah, lets leave it at that.  But we got a cool picture and got to listen to the heart beats!

March 12, 2009: 1.14cm, 7 weeks 2 days

March 12, 2009: 1.14cm, 7 weeks 2 days

I have to say, that little “dot” didn’t really convince me that I was pregnant.  I think I was still in disbelief, besides the fact that I feel like I’m ready to be sick every moment, and I was completely WIPED OUT!  I was amazed that I didn’t fell asleep at work!  And luckily for me, that I haven’t actually been sick, yet.  (knock on wood!)

At the same trip as the ultrasound, I was informed by my regular OB that my sugar level is a bit high.  She thinks it’s nothing, but she sent me away with another trip to Quest Dianogstic.

I didn’t realize it was the one hour glucose test that I read about, and I showed up way late one Saturday, and realized what it was, and left without anything done.  On Tuesday March 24th, I drank a big glass of lemonade and ate a bunch of starburst, then found a Quest that opens till 5:30 and made a last minute decision of getting the sugar test done so it will be in time for my next appointment.  Needless to say, I was a bit worried about the test results.  I mean, I didn’t exactly set myself up for success there!

On April 1st, this past Wednesday, we had our standing appointment.  I had to take another pee test, something about the culture came back weird and need to do it again (= me worried until my next appointment, which is on April 20th), and that my sugar test came back normal!  You read that!?  NORMAL!!! :)  So happy about that.

And because the baby is too small to be heard reliablely by a doppler (at this point, I asked if it’s like the weather!  HAHA!) so the doc did a super fast ultrasound to check on he/she.  And the baby has ARMS!!!!!!  It was doing The Twist!  Whatever he/she was doing, the baby was having a party in there, for sure!  Although it is quite weird to see the baby moving but not feeling the movement though!

So that’s the update for now.  We are having a genetic testing done on April 16th.  More blood work… yay…  not.

We haven’t decided if we want to find out the gender yet.  We are only about 11 weeks pregnant so we definitely have some time to think about it.

Now, this post is making me tired…  Time to sleep – AGAIN!

PS.  Sleeping has been my best friend, and my worst enemy!  I love to sleep at all times, but at the same time, it hurts my back!  RAR!  Don’t worry, I got some solution worked out already!
