What do you think?  Can I pass for one?  Well, alright, maybe after the hat is completed.  But so far, I’m loving the pattern though!

Ever since I saw a chili episode of Good Eats, I’ve been thinking about it.  Today, I decided it was time to make it.

I read some of the comments left and decided to made the following changes:

  • I only had beef stew meat and not wanting to buy more food while we had a bunch, I only used the beef stew meat.
  • I only used 1 chipotle pepper and I scraped the seeds out since David doesn’t really like spicy food.
  • Instead of using the tortilla chips, which according to a lot of commenters, made the chili really salty.  I took a suggestion from one of the commenters and cut up corn tortilla and toasted them in the oven like making chips.
  • The chili I made has no beer.  Instead, I used a can of diet root beer!  Another commenter’s tip!!!! :)

It was delicious!  My brother made rice to go with it.  Yum.  David said I can make it again, which is always a good sign.

If you are looking for a good meat chili, try this one!

Are you having a good day?  It is beautiful out with no wind.

David and I decided to take a drive towards Clinton to a) bring my wedding gown back to the bridal store to be cleaned and b) to go to the outlet and have the store where he bought a belt to take off the alarm lock thing.  We bought the belt awhile ago but he couldn’t use it because the lady who checked us out forgot to take off the lock thingy.

We stopped at a diner to have breakfast on the way there.  And on the way back, we stopped at a used/rare bookstore that I’ve seen everytime I drove to Clinton.  I found this book:

They don’t have much of craft section, but I’m glad I looked anyways. :)

When we got home, there was a package waiting for me, and in it contained these:

My cocoa swap package!!!  Look at Wilbur!!!  Isn’t he cute?  I love the wings.  And you can’t read the cocoa, but it says “Chili and Spice”!  Can’t wait to get some milk and try it!  Of course I already opened the chocolate and started indulging :) .  Also included in the package are DP Needle Tube for me to store the DPNs, a skein of Malabrigo in Purple Magic, and a beautiful mug.

Thank you riizu!

So our plan is going to a hibachi dinner tonight.  And then maybe to a movie.  Any of you have plans??

This post is dedicated to all the gifts I received but haven’t blogged about.

I’ll start by the most recent – Flowers.

I got this bouquet today at work!  Doesn’t the white calla and red roses striking together?  I love it.  And the best part is the card.  It says “Look Flowers!!!”  So very much coming from David.  And even though we don’t usually celebrate valentine’s day, he had made a reservation for us to go for Habachi tomorrow!!!  I am very excited!

And when David picked me up after work, he handed me this:

It’s a wedding gift from a friend and his wife who couldn’t attend our wedding.  It’s a Waterford vase!  So sparkly and pretty!  I don’t think I’ve ever own anything Waterford!  Now I have to find a special place for it.

When we got home, this was in the mail:

I won this from Littleput Book awhile back and I got it in the mail today.  It is rather cute and I think I’m going to bring it to work and display it on my desk.

After the excitment die down a little from everything I’ve received, I checked my email and Raverly, and saw that my cocoa swap pal PonyKnit had received the package I put together for her, which is super fast as I just mailed it!!!

I took a picture before I mail it out.  Of course, you all met Sleepy before, and you’ve seen my lavender sack invention.  My pal had mentioned that she doesn’t have a yarn cutter and she’s willing to try other’s favorite cocoa, so I added in some of the Land O Lake cocoa packs, since they are my favorite.  The yarn is Schaefer Yarn Heather, which is an amazing  yarn that I love.  And the Munson chocolate twist is just amazing.  I bought a bag for myself and I ate it in an hour…  Munson is the CT chocolate shop and I thought a little of CT for my new pal is only fitting.

I’ve also gotten this from my friend C last week:

I had a great time reading all the days I missed and having a good laugh.

Oh, and my flying piggie:

Isn’t he cute!?  CostumeChick got it for my birthday and I forgot to blog about it for awhile now!!!  Thanks Lady!

Well, not all the gifts are for me…  Look at how amazing knitters are:

img_0273

Sikorsky now has a Knit Hawk, and no I didn’t start it.  But the Knit Hawk has decided to do a hat drive for the Arkansa Children’s Hospital (ACH, they uses Sikorsky medical helicopters).  I emailed a few SnB members, and 15 hats showed up in a week!!!  Have I mention I love my bitches!? :)

Phew.  I think that’s it.  If I’m missing anything, that will probably be another post.

Have a great weekend! :)

I know, I’m biased, but still.  Cuties.

Bruno isn’t in the pictures because he doesn’t like to hang out in the living room anymore and to get a picture of him is like impossible.  But he is a cutie too.

It took me longer than I’ve liked, but I finally “finished” Jamie Lee v. 2.  It is enroute to Schaefer Yarn as we speak.  But before she left, I took a picture for all to view:

img_0279

I’ve only completed till under arm split.  The rest will be completed by Laura with cap sleeves!  I can’t wait to see what it looks like.  I’m actually really excited with the new cap sleeves and I may just make another one, but for myself!

I think I’m going to make something for myself next.  Maybe a hat?

You can read the first half of the Vermont story here.

After consulting with M, we decided to stay and take our time in Woodstock and do what we were set out to do – shop.  We started out at “Who is Sylvia?” – a vintage clothing store.  It has the most amount of vintage hats I’ve ever seen in one place!  It also have many coats, clothes, shoes, quilts, jewelry, lace trims, collars, gloves and buttons.  We had a lot of fun trying out hats and I left with these:

img_0263

A maple brooch, some hankies and lace trims.  The lace trims were 10 cents per yard!  I love it!  I used the hankies and lace trim to make this:

img_0268

Lavender pouch for the clothing drawers!  Or yarn storage containers!  So easy!  Just pour some dry lavender flowers in the hanky, gather the top and tie it up with a ribbon.  Make sure you tie a dead knot before making the bow, so the tie doesn’t come apart too easy.

Hankies are perfect for this job – especially pretty old ones.  Unless you still use them for what they are intended for, then this would be a great project for your house.  Think about it – the fabric that hankies are made out of are breathable, light and are usually really pretty.  The size of it is also perfect for the little pouch for a drawer.  And you can do this for almost nothing!  Go to a vintage clothing store, you can easily score a hanky for a dollar or less.  Of course, you don’t have to fill it with only lavender.  I’m thinking of trying lavender AND rosemary!

Then we went to a few clothing store, but didn’t buy anything.  I of course went to the yarn store again but didn’t buy anything this time!  I was good at restraining myself.

After the shopping, we drove up the mountain.  We were, of course, too late.  But we did see some people still in their costumes, and we saw some pictures of the team in their costumes.   Second race was cancelled and we left shortly after.   We joined the rest of the coaches/spouces for an early dinner.  Although, that won’t be the last time we see them for the year – we are going to Regionals in a couple of weeks.  And don’t worry, I already found a yarn store near it.

We now take a break from the Vermont story for some Cocoa Swap weekly question:

As we head into those doldrum parts of the Winter season (thank you very much Puxatawney Phil for seeing your shadow yet again)…  It makes you dream of the seasons you love…  What is your favorite season?  What do you love most about that season?  and… What is your favorite thing to do NOW to  keep you from stressing about MORE winter to go?

Autume.

I love the color changes, and the coolness just right after the crazy hotness of the summer.  It is romantic and beautiful.  Plus, I was married in Autume!

Nuf Said.
